Introduction:


A state in the heart of north India ‘Himachal Pradesh’. Himachal Pradesh is known for it’s Himalayan Landscapes. One of the most popular tourist destinations for trekking with the natural beauty. On the scale of income per capita it is one of the fourth state and third fastest growing economy in India.


In the year 1950, Himachal Pradesh is designated along with the other state it is also considered as Part C state with other states like Ajmer, Bhopal, Bilaspur, Delhi, Manipur, Tripura and others. On every year of 15th April, the day is celebrated as the ‘Himachal Day’.


Along with this the place is rich in terms of its culture, heritage and traditions. Also, in 1971 Himachal Pradesh become as the 18th state of India and also with Shimla as it’s capital.

Meaning Behind the word Himachal:

The meaning of the word ‘ Himachal’ is derived long back from these two sanskriti word ‘Hima’ means Snow and ‘Anchal’ means lap which means the state sits in the lap of Himalayas.


Himachal Pradesh celebrates its statehood day:
Every year of 25th January is considered as a public holiday in the state of Himachal Pradesh as it is said to be ‘statehood day of Himachal Pradesh’.


It was on this day in the year 1971 that Himachal Pradesh became the 18th state of India. In the year 1947, the state was created as a province on 15th April. In 1970 it was said to be a sub state under the Indian constitution and later on it become a union territory in the year 1956.

The Himachal Day is celebrated every year with great joy and happiness and with a great pomp. Every year on 25th January thousands of people participate on ground. On this occasion of Statehood Day of himachal Pradesh many dance programmes, colourful culture program are held throughout the state till noon. After all this celebrations, the governor of the state host the National Flag of our country and takes the salute of the March Past at the state level himachal day statehood celebrations.

The culture Of Himachal Pradesh is so much evident in the terms of languages which is spoken in the state though Hindi is the main state language of Himachal Pradesh but many people do speak Prakrit in Himachal Pradesh. The culture and art of Himachal Pradesh is reflected by music and dance.

Some of the famous dance forms of Himachal Pradesh are Chuksam, Dangi, Gee Dance and Burah Dance, Natti, Kharait, Ujagjama, Chadhgebrikar, and Shunto. In Himachal Pradesh, the community of religion is divided into mainly two parts Brahmins and Rajput.
