ACC, Ambuja, UltraTech cement prices hiked again in Himachal Pradesh, new rates implemented
Shimla, September 09: Cement prices in Himachal Pradesh have risen for the second time in the last 20 days, shocking consumers. From Monday morning, major cement companies – ACC, Ambuja and UltraTech – have implemented a hike of Rs 15 per bag, putting further pressure on construction costs across the state.
The new rates have taken the price of ACC cement to Rs 450 per bag, while ACC Gold has been priced at Rs 490. Ambuja and UltraTech Cement have followed the same price structure, reflecting a uniform hike across all brands. Earlier, a price hike of Rs 10 was done on August 24, taking the total hike to Rs 25 per bag in less than three weeks.
This sudden and significant increase has worried both consumers and those in the construction sector, as cement is a key raw material. The cumulative increase is expected to have an impact on construction projects, pushing up the cost of housing, infrastructure and small-scale construction activities.
“The price hike is a big challenge for us. It is becoming more difficult to manage project costs,” said a local contractor. Many builders and individual consumers have expressed concern over how the rising prices will affect existing and future projects, potentially delaying work and blowing up budgets.
Despite this, cement companies have remained silent, offering no official explanation for the continued price hikes. Residents, grappling with the growing financial burden, are questioning the timing and necessity of such price hikes.
