Union Home Minister Amit Shah on signing of agreement between Assam and Arunachal Pradesh for settlement of long pending inter-state border dispute said that signing of agreement for settlement of inter-state border dispute between the two states is a great achievement . Himanta Biswa Sarma said that there was a border dispute between Assam and Arunachal Pradesh since 1972. Today we have resolved all disputes through dialogue. This dispute has been resolved with the blessings of Prime Minister Narendra Modi under the guidance of Home Minister Shah, it will prove to be a milestone.

Approval was received from the cabinet a day ago
The Assam cabinet on Wednesday (April 19) approved the recommendations made by 12 zonal committees set up by the state government to resolve the issue of the decades-old border dispute with Arunachal Pradesh. Announcing the cabinet decisions, Assam minister Ashok Singhal had said that the long-pending border dispute between Assam and Arunachal Pradesh was going to be resolved.
