As the world faces rapidly changing security challenges, BRICS nations have intensified their commitment to working together against terrorism, cyber attacks and emerging technological threats. During the 16th BRICS National Security Advisers’ Meeting held in New Delhi under India’s chairship, leaders from member countries emphasized the need for stronger cooperation to maintain global stability.

The high-level meeting brought together National Security Advisers and senior delegates from BRICS countries to discuss a wide range of modern security concerns. Beyond traditional conflicts, the discussions focused on energy security, food shortages, supply chain disruptions, climate-related instability and the misuse of advanced technologies by terrorist groups.

BRICS Calls for Stronger Cooperation Against Terrorism and Cyber Crime

A major highlight of the meeting was the collective commitment of BRICS nations to combat terrorism in all forms. Security leaders agreed that terrorist organizations are increasingly using new technologies and digital platforms, making international cooperation and intelligence sharing more important than ever.

The member countries supported greater collaboration through capacity building, improved exchange of information and closer coordination between law-enforcement agencies to effectively address terrorism and growing cyber security risks.

Officials also reviewed the progress of recent BRICS Joint Working Group meetings on counter-terrorism and security related to Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs), reinforcing the bloc’s long-term strategy for a safer digital environment.


India’s BRICS Chairship 2026 Receives Strong Support

The meeting was held under the theme “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability” and concluded with the National Security Advisers and heads of delegation meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and expressing full support for India’s BRICS Chairship in 2026.

The discussions highlighted India’s increasing role in bringing BRICS nations together to address shared security concerns in an increasingly uncertain global environment.


Ajit Doval Holds Key Bilateral Talks, Including Meeting with China

On the sidelines of the two-day summit, India’s National Security Adviser Ajit Doval held several bilateral meetings with his counterparts from China, Iran, Brazil, Ethiopia and South Africa.

One of the most significant discussions was Doval’s meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, where both sides reviewed recent developments in India-China relations and acknowledged progress toward the gradual normalization of bilateral ties.

According to India’s Ministry of External Affairs, Doval stressed that stable, predictable and constructive relations between India and China are essential for building mutual trust and improving understanding. The talks were described as positive, constructive and focused on future cooperation.


New Technologies Become a New Security Challenge

Addressing the media, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated that the dialogue focused on the changing nature of national security challenges and how emerging technologies are transforming future threats.

From cyber attacks to technology-driven terrorism, BRICS nations agreed that collective action, innovation and stronger partnerships will be necessary to protect global security in the coming years.
