Bilaspur Zila Parishad has elected its new leadership, with Lekh Ram taking charge as the Chairman and Pramila Devi becoming the Vice-Chairperson. Both leaders were elected unopposed during the election proceedings held on Friday.

The election process was conducted under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Rahul Kumar. According to the district administration, the process began after the required quorum was achieved, with 10 out of the 14 elected Zila Parishad members attending the meeting.

As no other candidates filed nominations for either of the two key positions, Lekh Ram was officially declared elected as the Chairman, while Pramila Devi was elected as the Vice-Chairperson without the need for voting.

Lekh Ram, who represents Ward No. 12 (Jukhala), was nominated for the chairman’s post by Jarnail Singh, the Zila Parishad member from Ward No. 06 (Rohal), and his candidature was supported by Narendra Kumar from Ward No. 05 (Badgaon).

Similarly, Pramila Devi, the elected member from Ward No. 04 (Nanawan), was nominated for the vice-chairperson’s position by Ashok Kumar from Ward No. 10 (Barmana), with Raksha Kumari from Ward No. 02 (Gahar) seconding the proposal.

Other members who participated in the proceedings included Jamna Devi (Ghandalvi), Raksha Kumari (Gahar), Nishu Devi (Kutheda), Narendra Kumar (Badgaon), Jarnail Singh (Rohal), Sapna Kumari (Bamta), Ashok Kumar (Barmana), and Tarsem Singh (Kotkhas).

Meanwhile, four members — Asha Devi (Jejvi), Devansh Chandel (Jangla), Surbhi Thakur (Namhol), and Ratan Chand (Swahan) — remained absent during the election proceedings.

The unopposed election of the Chairman and Vice-Chairperson marks a smooth transition of leadership in the Bilaspur Zila Parishad. The newly elected representatives are expected to focus on local development initiatives and address key issues concerning residents across the district.
