According to seismic monitoring data, the earthquake struck at approximately 10:04 PM, with its epicentre located in the Chamba district. The quake occurred at a shallow depth of 5 kilometres, making the tremors more noticeable across a larger area.
The earthquake’s epicentre was recorded at latitude 32.289° North and longitude 76.434° East. Due to its shallow depth, the impact was felt not only in Chamba but also in nearby districts including Dharamsala, Palampur, Mandi, and surrounding regions.
Eyewitnesses reported that the ground shook for a few seconds, causing concern among residents. Many people immediately stepped out of their homes and buildings, fearing stronger aftershocks. Several social media users also shared their experiences, with posts about the tremors quickly gaining attention online.
Despite the noticeable jolt, authorities have not reported any loss of life, injuries, or damage to property as of now. Officials are continuing to monitor the situation, while disaster management teams remain on alert.
