Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has called for stronger unity among Muslim countries, saying that collective cooperation and solidarity are crucial to addressing growing regional tensions and external threats in West Asia.

Ahead of Eid al-Adha celebrations, Pezeshkian held a series of phone conversations with leaders from several Muslim-majority nations, including Iraq, Oman, Qatar, Turkey, Tajikistan, Egypt, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, and Malaysia. During these discussions, he stressed the importance of expanding cooperation and strengthening ties across the Islamic world.

In a post shared on X, the Iranian President said he hoped Muslim countries would move closer together and support one another during challenging times.

“I expressed my hope that God may bring the hearts of us Muslims closer together and that we may witness the expansion of cooperation in all areas,” Pezeshkian stated.

Eid al-Adha Should Inspire Islamic Solidarity, Says Iranian President

According to Iranian state media, Pezeshkian described Eid al-Adha as a symbol of faith, sacrifice, and unity among Muslim nations during his conversation with Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov.

He emphasized that the festival should remind Islamic countries to deepen regional trust and strengthen diplomatic engagement. Pezeshkian also appreciated Kyrgyzstan’s stance against a recent anti-Iran resolution at the United Nations Security Council, calling it a sign of “mutual respect and responsible engagement.”

Iran Hopes for a “New Chapter” in Regional Relations

During separate talks with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, Pezeshkian said the Middle East would eventually move beyond the current phase of instability and tensions, which he linked to recent US-Israeli actions in the region.

The Iranian President expressed optimism about a “new chapter” in regional diplomacy based on unity among Muslim nations and resistance to external interference. He also reiterated that Iran remains committed to resolving disputes through diplomacy and dialogue.

Iran and Malaysia Discuss Expanding Bilateral Cooperation

Pezeshkian also spoke with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, highlighting the importance of unity among Muslim countries in dealing with shared regional crises and international pressure.

He called for stronger cooperation between Tehran and Kuala Lumpur in economic, cultural, and social sectors. In response, Anwar Ibrahim reportedly welcomed greater collaboration and expressed hope for stronger unity across the Islamic world.

Regional Cooperation Remains Key Focus for Iran

In separate conversations with Iraqi leaders, including President Nizar Amidi and Prime Minister Ali Falih al-Zaidi, Pezeshkian emphasized the values of sacrifice, brotherhood, and solidarity associated with Eid al-Adha.

He urged regional countries to work together more closely and counter what he described as divisive efforts aimed at weakening unity in the Muslim world.

Significance of Eid al-Adha

Millions of Muslims around the world celebrate Eid al-Adha on the 10th day of Dhul Hijjah. The festival commemorates Prophet Abraham’s devotion and willingness to sacrifice his son, Prophet Ishmael, as an act of obedience to God. According to Islamic belief, God intervened and provided a ram for sacrifice instead.

The occasion is widely observed as a symbol of faith, sacrifice, compassion, and unity within the global Muslim community.
