The excitement surrounding IPL 2026 has officially reached the hills of Himachal Pradesh as Punjab Kings arrived in Dharamsala on Thursday for their much-awaited home fixtures at the iconic HPCA Stadium.

Despite a slight delay in the team’s arrival, hundreds of cricket fans gathered outside the Kangra Airport hoping to catch a glimpse of their favourite IPL stars. The atmosphere turned electric as supporters cheered for captain Shreyas Iyer and head coach Ricky Ponting upon the team’s arrival.

The Punjab Kings squad also included international and young talents such as Marco Jansen, Priyansh Arya and Cooper Connolly. Soon after landing, the team headed to the luxurious Radisson Blu Resort Dharamshala, which will serve as their team base during the Dharamsala leg of the tournament.

Starting Friday, Punjab Kings are expected to begin rigorous practice sessions at the picturesque HPCA Stadium, widely regarded as one of the most beautiful cricket venues in the world. Surrounded by the snow-covered Dhauladhar mountain range, the stadium’s high-altitude conditions often create unique playing challenges for teams.

With the IPL 2026 league stage entering a decisive phase, Punjab Kings will be looking to make the most of their home advantage in Dharamsala. The franchise is scheduled to play three important matches at the venue — against Mumbai Indians on May 11, Delhi Capitals on May 14 and Royal Challengers Bengaluru on May 17.

Adding even more significance to Dharamsala’s IPL hosting duties this year, the city will also host Qualifier 1 on May 26. The high-profile playoff clash is expected to draw thousands of cricket fans and tourists to the region, providing a major boost to local businesses, hotels and tourism-related activities.

As cricket fever grips the hill town, Dharamsala is once again preparing to become one of the biggest attractions of the IPL season.
