After several days of unseasonal rain and chilly weather, residents across Himachal Pradesh may finally experience warmer days starting today. After several days of unseasonal rain and chilly weather, residents across Himachal Pradesh may finally experience warmer days starting today. According to the latest forecast issued by the Meteorological Department, temperatures in the state are expected to rise gradually from May 7, bringing relief from the unusually cold conditions seen during the ongoing summer season.
Over the past few days, many parts of the state witnessed continuous rainfall, thunderstorms, and hailstorms. The sudden weather activity caused a noticeable drop in temperatures, making several regions feel colder than normal for May.
Officials said light rainfall may continue at isolated places in the middle and higher hill regions on May 7. However, weather conditions are expected to remain largely dry across the state from May 8 onwards. The dry spell is likely to push temperatures upward over the next few days.
The Meteorological Department has predicted that minimum temperatures may increase by 2°C to 4°C, while maximum temperatures could rise sharply by 3°C to 8°C in different districts. As a result, daytime conditions are expected to become warmer across most parts of the state.
Despite the expected rise in temperature, weather experts have also indicated the possibility of another spell of rain beginning from May 11, which could once again impact temperatures in hill regions.
Rainfall Continues in Several Areas
Light rainfall was recorded in many areas of Himachal Pradesh during the last 24 hours. Due to the ongoing wet weather, minimum temperatures across the state remained 2°C to 7°C below normal and ranged between 1°C and 19°C.
Similarly, maximum temperatures also stayed below seasonal averages by around 3°C to 6°C, ranging between 15°C and 33°C.
Among major towns and tourist destinations, temperatures were recorded as follows:
- Shimla – 21.1°C
- Dharamsala – 25°C
- Manali – 17.8°C
- Kangra – 29°C
- Mandi – 28.6°C
- Solan – 26°C
- Kalpa – 17.7°C
- Keylong – 14.2°C
- Kufri – 14°C
- Sundernagar – 30°C
- Nahan – 28°C
- Bhuntar – 28.6°C
Meanwhile, Una remained the hottest place in the state with a maximum temperature of 33°C. On the other hand, Tabo in Lahaul and Spiti district recorded the coldest minimum temperature at 0.8°C.
With temperatures now expected to rise steadily, residents and tourists in Himachal Pradesh may soon experience a return to more typical summer weather conditions after an extended spell of rain and cold winds.
