In a move aimed at enhancing spiritual tourism and improving visitor engagement, the historic Banganga Ghat in Kangra has unveiled a newly developed selfie point for devotees and tourists.

Located along the serene banks of the Baner River, Banganga Ghat holds deep religious significance and attracts hundreds of pilgrims daily who visit to take a holy dip in its sacred waters. The addition of a selfie point blends tradition with modern-day travel trends, offering visitors a memorable way to capture their spiritual journey.

The selfie point was officially inaugurated on Friday by Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Ishant Jaswal, in the presence of temple officer Shivali Thakur and members of the shrine trust associated with the revered Bajreshwari Temple.

Following the inauguration, the SDM participated in the grand evening Aarti, experiencing the spiritual atmosphere firsthand. He also conducted a detailed inspection of the ghat’s existing facilities and reviewed ongoing and future development plans with the temple trust.

During the visit, key decisions were made to further enhance the ghat’s infrastructure. Authorities identified a proposed site for new shops to support local vendors and finalized a dedicated space for performing religious rituals such as yajnas. Additionally, a blueprint was unveiled for a specially designed platform that will enable priests to conduct the evening Aarti in a more organized and visually appealing manner.

Speaking on the development, SDM Ishant Jaswal emphasized that continuous efforts are being made to transform Banganga Ghat into a well-equipped and attractive destination. “Our goal is to preserve the spiritual essence of the site while improving facilities for pilgrims and tourists. These developments will help position Banganga Ghat as a major spiritual and tourism hub in the region,” he said.

The initiative reflects a growing trend where religious destinations are being upgraded with modern amenities to enhance visitor experience without compromising their cultural and spiritual significance.

With these developments, Banganga Ghat is expected to witness increased footfall, strengthening both local tourism and the regional economy.
