The department has issued yellow and orange alerts for multiple regions until April 9, warning of thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds.
Alerts Issued for Key Districts
A yellow alert has been specifically issued for Shimla and Mandi districts on April 6. Residents in these areas may experience sudden thunderstorms, lightning strikes, and strong winds at isolated places.
Weather officials have indicated that the intensity of rainfall and snowfall may increase further on April 7 and 8, making these two days particularly crucial.
Snowfall and Rainfall Recorded Across State
Over the past 24 hours, several regions have reported significant precipitation:
- Gondhla (Lahaul-Spiti): 28.5 cm snowfall
- Keylong: 20 cm snowfall
- Hansa: 5 cm snowfall
- Kukumseri: 1.3 cm snowfall
Rainfall was also widespread:
- Sarahan (Shimla): 23.5 mm
- Dharamshala: 18.2 mm
- Manali: 17 mm
- Shimla: 13.4 mm
- Kalpa: 11 mm
- Kangra: 8.4 mm
- Mandi: 8.2 mm
- Solan: 2.2 mm
Temperature Drop Likely Across Himachal
While minimum temperatures remain largely stable, the maximum temperatures have already dropped sharply by 2°C to 8°C in many areas.
Experts predict a further dip of 3°C to 5°C over the next 3–4 days, bringing colder conditions across the state.

Una Warmest, Tabo Coldest
Despite the widespread cold conditions, Una recorded the highest temperature in the state at 34°C, making it the warmest location.
On the other hand, Tabo in Lahaul and Spiti remained the coldest, with temperatures dipping to 0.2°C.
