Calling it a much-needed financial lifeline, the Governor said the state has been going through financial pressure, and this support comes at the right time. He also expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating that the move reflects a deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by hill states.
The funding is part of a larger 25,000 crore package created by the Government of India under the framework of the 16th Finance Commission. Notably, Himachal Pradesh has emerged as the second-highest beneficiary among nine hill states, highlighting its importance in the Centre’s development roadmap.
According to the Governor, this financial push is expected to accelerate growth across key sectors like road infrastructure, healthcare, and education—areas that directly impact the daily lives of people in the region. Better connectivity, improved medical facilities, and stronger educational institutions could soon become a reality if the funds are utilized effectively.
He also emphasized the importance of transparency and accountability, expressing confidence that the funds will be used honestly and for the welfare of all sections of society.
