Tensions in the Middle East have taken a sharp turn as Russia and Iran strongly condemned recent US-Israeli strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities, calling them “unacceptable” and warning of serious global consequences.
On Monday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov held a crucial phone conversation with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi, as concerns grow over the rapidly worsening situation in the Persian Gulf and beyond.
According to Russia’s Foreign Ministry, both leaders expressed deep concern over what they described as aggressive actions by the United States and Israel. They warned that the conflict is no longer limited to one region and could dangerously expand into the Caspian area.
Lavrov firmly criticized the strikes on Iran’s nuclear infrastructure, including the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant. He highlighted that such attacks not only threaten regional stability but also pose significant risks to Russian personnel working at these facilities. More alarmingly, he warned of potential environmental disasters that could affect multiple countries in the region.
Both sides agreed that the situation is becoming increasingly volatile and stressed the urgent need to stop military actions. Russia reiterated its call for an immediate ceasefire and emphasized the importance of resolving the crisis through diplomatic and political dialogue—especially keeping Iran’s interests in focus. Moscow also confirmed it will continue to push this stance at the United Nations Security Council.
During the conversation, Araghchi expressed gratitude to Russia for its continued diplomatic backing and humanitarian assistance, signaling strong coordination between the two nations.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump struck a different tone, stating that Iran still has “one more opportunity” to end its threats against the United States. He added that regardless of Iran’s decision, America aims to ensure a safer future for the world.
On the other side, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu revealed that he recently spoke with Trump about advancing their shared military and strategic goals. Netanyahu indicated that Israel is open to achieving its objectives through an agreement but made it clear that military operations will continue in the meantime.
He further stated that Israeli forces are actively targeting Iran’s missile and nuclear programs, as well as conducting operations in Lebanon against Hezbollah. Netanyahu also claimed that recent strikes have eliminated key nuclear scientists, underscoring Israel’s continued aggressive stance.
As global powers exchange sharp warnings and military actions intensify, fears of a broader regional conflict continue to rise. The coming days will be crucial in determining whether diplomacy can prevail—or if tensions will spiral further out of control.
