Himachal Pradesh Weather News : 485 roads, including three National Highways, still blocked in Himachal after heavy snowfall

Normal life continues to be disrupted across Himachal Pradesh as at least 485 roads, including three National Highways (NHs), remain blocked following the recent spell of heavy snowfall in several parts of the state.

According to the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC), Lahaul and Spiti district is the worst affected, with 275 roads closed to vehicular traffic, including the key NH-03 and NH-505 routes.

Among other districts, Mandi has reported 67 road closures, followed by Kullu with 58 roads, including NH-305. Shimla has 40 blocked roads, Chamba 35, Kinnaur four, Una three, Kangra two and Sirmaur one road still closed.

The severe weather has also impacted power supply in many areas. As many as 436 electricity transformers are currently non-functional across the state. Kullu has recorded the highest number of disruptions at 187 transformers, followed by Shimla (116), Mandi (57), Chamba (50), Sirmaur (13), Lahaul and Spiti (11) and Kinnaur (two).

Meanwhile, weather conditions remained largely dry in the past 24 hours. Both minimum and maximum temperatures were recorded 2°C to 3°C above normal across most parts of the state.

The Meteorological Department has forecast light snowfall in the higher and mid-hill regions on January 31, while the remaining areas are likely to witness dry weather.
