Fresh snowfall has drawn a large number of tourists to Himachal Pradesh, but recent incidents of alleged indecent behaviour at popular hill stations have sparked outrage and raised concerns over maintaining public decorum at tourist destinations.

A video circulating widely on social media shows a woman allegedly removing her outerwear and dancing in lingerie in the snow at Manali. Though the exact location and authenticity of the clip have not been officially confirmed, it has triggered sharp reactions online, with many users calling the act inappropriate and disrespectful to local culture and traditions.

In another incident, a separate video from Shimla shows a youth from Haryana reportedly removing his shirt and doing push-ups in a public place. Both clips have intensified concerns about unruly behaviour by some visitors, particularly during the peak tourist season when hill towns witness heavy footfall following snowfall.

The viral videos have sparked a broader debate on social media about the limits of content creation and the growing tendency to chase online fame at the cost of social responsibility. Many residents and netizens have questioned whether such acts undermine the cultural sensitivity and peaceful environment of Himachal’s tourist spots.

So far, authorities have not issued an official statement confirming action in these specific cases. However, the incidents highlight the challenges faced by the administration in managing crowd behaviour and ensuring that public spaces remain respectful and safe for everyone.

Public Works Department Minister Vikramaditya Singh also condemned the reported conduct, stating that such acts tarnish the image of Himachal Pradesh, known for its natural beauty, culture and traditions. He urged tourists to behave responsibly and avoid creating disturbances in the name of entertainment or social media content.

With tourist inflow continuing to rise, locals have called for stricter monitoring and better awareness to preserve the dignity and cultural ethos of the state’s popular destinations.
