Mandi News : 61 Kg Poppy Husk Seized in Mandi, Two Punjab Youths Arrested
In a major breakthrough under the ongoing anti-drug campaign, the Mandi district police on Sunday seized a huge consignment of narcotics and arrested two youths from Punjab. The action was carried out by the Sundernagar police team, which recovered 61.205 kilograms of poppy husk (posta) from a pickup vehicle during routine checking.

According to official information, the police team from Sundernagar police station had set up a naka at Alsoo Chowk as part of intensified surveillance against drug trafficking. During the checking, a Mahindra pickup jeep bearing registration number PB-03-BH-0430, coming from the Mandi side, was stopped for inspection.
Upon searching the vehicle, the police recovered 61.205 kg of opium poppy husk concealed inside. Following the seizure, a case was registered under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Sundernagar police station.
The two occupants of the vehicle were identified as Kuldeep Singh, son of Mukund Singh, a resident of Moga district, Punjab, and Rampal, son of Gurmel Singh, a resident of Jagraon tehsil in Ludhiana district.
Police officials said the large quantity of contraband points towards organised drug trafficking. The accused will be produced before the court, and further investigation is underway to trace forward and backward links
