The Union Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) has sanctioned two MSME Technology Centres for Himachal Pradesh as part of its approval of 13 such centres across the country.
Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri said in a press release on Tuesday that the centres would be established in the industrial areas of Parwanoo in Solan district and Pandoga in Una district.
Highlighting the importance of the initiative, Agnihotri said MSME Technology Centres are designed to provide micro, small and medium enterprises access to advanced technology, skilled manpower and specialised technical services. The centres aim to boost competitiveness, modernisation and growth in manufacturing sectors such as engineering, plastics and automation.
He said the centres would also offer training, tool and die design facilities, and access to high-end equipment, including artificial intelligence and robotics, to help enterprises improve product quality and operational efficiency.
The Deputy Chief Minister said the MSME Technology Centre at Pandoga Industrial Area in the Haroli Assembly segment would be set up in the Community Centre building at an estimated cost of Rs 10 crore. Once operational, the facilities are expected to accelerate industrial development in the state.
Agnihotri added that both centres would be equipped with modern machinery and provide innovation support, technical training and high-quality technical inputs to existing as well as upcoming industrial units. “These facilities will be at par with the best in the world and will significantly promote industrial investment and innovation in Himachal Pradesh,” he said.
He further said the centres would provide facilities for manufacturing machine tools and dies, along with in-house repair and overhaul services for machinery installed in industrial areas. Virtual-mode training programmes would also be conducted, enabling entrepreneurs from remote and far-flung areas to access technical expertise and skill development opportunities.
