Two youths died and two others were critically injured after their car plunged into a deep gorge near the Bir Billing paragliding site in Kangra late Monday night. Police suspect overspeeding or poor visibility led to the accident. A rescue team retrieved the injured and rushed them to a nearby hospital.
Two youths were killed and two others injured after the car they were travelling in skidded off the road and plunged into a gorge near the world-famous Bir Billing paragliding site in Kangra district.
The accident occurred late on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday, officials said.
Preliminary findings suggest that the driver lost control of the vehicle near the paragliding take-off point, sending it tumbling into a deep gorge. Two occupants died on the spot, while the other two sustained critical injuries.
Local residents alerted the police after witnessing the incident. A rescue team quickly reached the location, pulled the injured out of the gorge and transported them to a nearby hospital for urgent medical care.
Police have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the crash. Early indications suggest over speeding or low nighttime visibility may have contributed to the mishap.
