Russia Says Ukrainian Drone Strike Ignites Fire at Major Moscow-Area Power and Heating Plant
Russian officials say a Ukrainian drone attack hit a major heat and power station east of Moscow, sparking a fire and forcing authorities to activate backup electricity and heating systems.
A senior Russian official said on Sunday that Ukraine launched a drone attack on a major power and heating facility in the Moscow region, triggering a fire and forcing authorities to switch to backup systems.
According to Andrei Vorobyov, the governor of the Moscow region, Ukrainian drones targeted the Shatura power station, located about 120 km (75 miles) east of the Kremlin.
“Air defense forces destroyed several drones, but some fell within the station’s territory,” Vorobyov said. “A fire broke out at the facility. It is now contained at the local level.”
