Woman Found Murdered in Paonta Sahib Rented Room; Partner Arrested on the Spot
A woman was found murdered in a rented room in Paonta Sahib’s Devanagar area. Her partner, who was present at the scene, was arrested immediately. Police suspect he killed her while intoxicated. A forensic team has collected evidence, and investigations are ongoing.
A woman was found dead on Monday morning inside a rented room in the Devanagar area of Paonta Sahib, in Himachal Pradesh’s Sirmaur district. Her partner was arrested from the spot after local residents raised an alarm.
Police said they received a call around 9:30 a.m. and reached the scene shortly afterward. The victim, identified as Mala Devi from Uttar Pradesh, was discovered lying in a pool of blood. Her partner, Sheeshpal, a resident of Haryana, was present in the room and made no attempt to flee. Locals alerted the police, who detained him immediately.
A forensic team also visited the site and collected evidence.
Preliminary investigation suggests that the accused was intoxicated when he allegedly struck the woman on the head with a glass bottle, leading to her death.
Sirmaur SP Nishchint Singh Negi said the two had been living together, but whether they were married or in a live-in relationship will be confirmed after statements from the woman’s family.
The body has been sent for post-mortem, and further investigation is underway.
