Tesla sales rise post price cut but fall short of expectations

As the business reduced pricing twice in an effort to increase demand, Tesla saw a 36 percent increase in first-quarter vehicle sales. The manufacturer of electric cars, SUVs, and heavy trucks reported that from January to March, 422,875 vehicles were shipped globally, up from little over 310,000 the previous year. Nonetheless, the growth was less than FactSet’s projection of 432,000 analyst forecasts for the quarter. For the business, the first-quarter sales set a record. Early in March, Tesla reduced the cost of its more costly S and X models by $5,000 to as much as $10,000. It reduced the sticker prices on some of its EV models in January, making some of them eligible for a $7,500 federal tax credit in the US.

Tesla delivered 422,875 vehicles for the first three months of this year, up 4% from the previous quarter. This was 36% higher than a year ago. In January, Chief Executive Elon Musk said Tesla could achieve 2 million vehicle deliveries this year, up 52% from last year.
