Nadaun | November 8 — Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu launched a sharp attack on former Chief Minister Jairam Thakur and Union Minister Anurag Thakur during his one-day visit to Nadaun, saying both leaders failed the people of Hamirpur.

Addressing a public meeting in his maternal village Manjheli, the Chief Minister accused Jairam Thakur of completely neglecting Hamirpur district during his five-year tenure as Chief Minister.

“Hamirpur sent three BJP MLAs to the Assembly, yet not a single minister was made from former CM Prem Kumar Dhumal’s home district. The previous government didn’t even lay a single new brick for projects that began during Dhumal’s tenure,” Sukhu said.

He alleged that projects initiated under the Congress regime and inaugurated by Dhumal were stalled during Jairam’s term.

Turning his focus to Anurag Thakur, Sukhu accused the Union Minister of misleading the public over the Hamirpur Medical College project.

“Anurag Thakur has made lying a habit. He keeps deceiving people about how the Hamirpur Medical College was approved,” Sukhu said, adding that the college was sanctioned in March 2014 by the UPA government under Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and then-Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad.

He further noted that former BJP Health Minister Vipin Singh Parmar had confirmed this in the Assembly and that RTI documents also support the claim.

“If the BJP government had approved the college, it would have been named after Atal Bihari Vajpayee, not after Congress leader and former Vice President Dr. Radhakrishnan,” Sukhu asserted.

Sukhu also said that while Jairam Thakur performed the foundation ceremony for the college at Jolsappar, not a single brick was laid during his tenure.

Highlighting his government’s inclusive approach, the Chief Minister said it was a matter of pride that for the first time, someone from lower Himachal had become Chief Minister.

“The Congress government is ensuring balanced development across the state. This is true system change — completing even those projects that began under BJP governments, like the Hamirpur Bus Stand and the Barsar Mini Secretariat,” Sukhu added.
