To commemorate 150 years of the national song ‘Vande Mataram’, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) organized special events across the country, including collective singing programs in all four parliamentary constituencies of Himachal Pradesh on Friday.
In the Shimla parliamentary constituency, the event was held at Hotel Woodville Palace, attended by former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur, Union Minister and MP Anurag Thakur, and MP Suresh Kashyap. The leaders, along with party members and citizens, participated in the mass recitation of the full version of ‘Vande Mataram’.
The celebrations, initiated by the BJP and the Central Government, aim to highlight the song’s historic role in India’s freedom struggle and its enduring message of national unity and pride. The campaign, designed to encourage public participation, will continue for one year across the nation.
Speaking at the event, Jai Ram Thakur and Anurag Thakur said that ‘Vande Mataram’ is not merely a song but the very soul of India and a timeless symbol of patriotism. They noted that singing it together across the country reflects the spirit of oneness and reverence for the motherland.
