Despite warnings from others, Ritik reportedly ventured into deep water.

Local authorities on Friday confirmed that a 25-year-old man from Kinnaur district drowned on Thursday evening at the Bhagsunag Waterfall near McLeodganj.

The deceased was identified as Ritik Kumar (25), son of Tek Chand, a resident of Barang village near Kalpa in Kinnaur.

According to police officials, Ritik had come to visit Dharamshala and McLeodganj with his friend Shashank, son of Jag Mohan, who is also from Barang village.

The incident occurred while the two were bathing in the waterfall. Despite repeated warnings from onlookers, Ritik went into the deeper section of the water, where he tragically drowned.

Upon receiving the information, a police team led by SHO Deepak Kumar from the McLeodganj police station reached the spot and initiated an investigation. The body was recovered and sent to the Dr. Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College, Tanda, for a post-mortem examination scheduled for today.

Police have recorded statements from eyewitnesses and begun further investigation. The victim’s family has been informed about the incident.
