Army Honours for Naik Sushil Kumar at His Final Rites in Hamirpur
Naik Sushil Kumar (40), who passed away while on official duty in Uttar Pradesh, was laid to rest with full military honours on Wednesday at his native village Panyala in Hamirpur district, Himachal Pradesh.
His son performed the last rites in the presence of Army officers and local residents. Kumar is survived by his wife, son, and daughter, who are students of Class 8 and Class 6, respectively.
Kumar, who served with the 13th Dogra Regiment, was posted in Faizabad, Uttar Pradesh. According to reports, he collapsed and sustained a head injury during duty early Monday morning around 4 a.m. Despite being rushed to the hospital, he succumbed to his injuries around 7 p.m. the same day.
A pall of grief enveloped Panyala village on Wednesday as the community gathered to pay their final respects. The ceremony was conducted with full military protocol, honouring the soldier’s service to the nation.
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri expressed condolences over Kumar’s passing, assuring that the state government stands firmly with the bereaved family and will extend all possible assistance.
