A newly constructed temple in Shimla’s Rampur subdivision was completely destroyed in a massive fire on Sunday evening. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.

According to district officials, the blaze broke out around 7:50 p.m. in Shaneri village, engulfing the three-storey temple of local deity Jharo Nag.

Firefighters, assisted by local residents, tried to control the flames, but the fire spread rapidly, reducing the entire structure to ashes. The fire was later brought under control.

Officials said the exact cause of the fire and the extent of the damage are still being assessed.

Local residents said the temple, built at a cost of ₹2.5 crore, was scheduled for consecration next year.
