Protesters in Madagascar Enter Symbolic May 13 Square Under Military Security

For the first time since demonstrations began last month, protesters in Madagascar entered Antananarivo’s historic May 13 Square on Saturday under the watch of tight military security.

The square — long regarded as the epicenter of political uprisings in the country — had remained heavily guarded and off-limits throughout the period of unrest.
