Below is the full text of the statement issued by Hamas on Friday in response to U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposal to end the war in Gaza:

In the name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful

Response of the Islamic Resistance Movement – Hamas – to the Proposal of U.S. President Donald Trump

The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) appreciates the Arab, Islamic, and international efforts — including those of U.S. President Donald Trump — aimed at ending the war on the Gaza Strip, facilitating the exchange of prisoners, ensuring the immediate delivery of humanitarian aid, rejecting the continued occupation of the Strip, and opposing any attempt to displace our Palestinian people from their land.

In this context, and in order to bring about a full cessation of hostilities and complete withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, we announce our approval, in principle, of the exchange formula presented in President Trump’s proposal for the release of all captives held by both sides — whether alive or deceased — provided that appropriate regional conditions for implementing this exchange are secured. In this regard, we affirm our readiness to engage in immediate discussions with mediators to finalize the details of this process.

We also confirm our approval to transfer the administration of the Gaza Strip to an independent Palestinian authority — a technical administration — based on national consensus and supported by Arab and Islamic partners.

Regarding other matters outlined in President Trump’s proposal — particularly those concerning the future of the Gaza Strip and the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people — these are internal issues tied to a broader national consensus. Their resolution must be grounded in relevant international resolutions and laws and addressed within an inclusive Palestinian national framework, of which we are an integral part and to which we remain fully committed.
