After witnessing the grand Rath Yatra at the Kullu Dussehra festival, Himachal Pradesh Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla expressed deep admiration for the state’s cultural heritage. Speaking to the media after the vibrant procession, Governor Shukla remarked, “Our traditions are so deeply rooted that their presence is clearly visible here today.”

Highlighting a striking contrast, he added, “Even India’s Generation Z can be seen pulling the ropes of Lord Raghunath’s chariot. That is the difference—our culture is so strong, so deeply ingrained in our hearts and minds, that no external influence can shake it.”

The Governor described his participation as a blessing from Lord Raghunath and underscored the festival’s national significance, calling it a living symbol of Himachal’s identity as Devbhoomi—the Land of the Gods. “People come from across the country to witness this spectacle,” he said, noting its inclusive spirit, where “representatives of the erstwhile royal family stand shoulder to shoulder with the public, united as devotees before the deities.”

Referring to the recent natural disasters in the state, Governor Shukla offered a solemn prayer: “I pray to Lord Raghunath that such calamities never strike Himachal again. People should also avoid building homes near rivers and streams—we have all witnessed the devastation.” He added that over 300 deities had already assembled at the festival and expressed hope that they would continue to safeguard Himachal’s sacred identity as Devbhoomi.

Accompanied by Lady Governor Janki Shukla, the Governor offered prayers at Lord Raghunath’s camp temple and visited the pavilions of other deities at Dhalpur ground. Later, he inaugurated exhibitions organized by various government departments, boards, corporations, and NGOs, praising the efforts and displays.

In the evening, Governor Shukla inaugurated the week-long folk dance festival by performing rituals and lighting a ceremonial lamp at the Kala Kendra. This was followed by a series of cultural performances showcasing the region’s rich artistic traditions.

The Governor and other dignitaries were warmly welcomed by Kullu Dussehra Committee Chairman and local MLA Sunder Singh Thakur.
