After recent natural calamities that had caused extensive damage to infrastructure, power supply has now been largely restored in the Dharampur area of Mandi district, bringing much-needed relief to residents. Heavy rainfall on Monday night had severely damaged the local power network, affecting a key 33 kV substation, 170 transformers, about eight kilometers of high-tension (HT) lines, and 9.5 kilometers of low-tension (LT) lines.

Santosh Kumar Sharma, Superintending Engineer of the Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board (Dharampur), said technical teams have been working around the clock to restore power to affected areas. Out of the 170 damaged transformers, 167 have already been brought back into operation. Repairs have also been completed on the damaged 33 kV substation, along with the affected HT and LT lines. “Most of the power supply in the area has now been restored,” Sharma confirmed.

He further added, “At present, only three water supply schemes remain pending, where restoration work is in progress. The Jal Shakti Department will be able to resume these schemes soon for the convenience of local residents. We expect them to be fully functional shortly.”

The Electricity Board also expressed its gratitude to the people of Dharampur for their patience and cooperation during the crisis.

Meanwhile, the heavy downpour on Monday night triggered flash floods in the Dharampur region, inundating the HRTC bus stand and several shops. Twenty HRTC buses were damaged, and two people were swept away in the sudden floods.
