Conditions are becoming favorable for the withdrawal of the southwest monsoon from more parts of Himachal Pradesh within the next 24 hours.

According to the State Emergency Operations Centre, traffic continues to be disrupted across the state, with 373 roads—including two national highways—still blocked. In Mandi alone, around 127 roads remain closed, while Kullu has 110 (including NH-03), Kangra 40, Shimla 25, Chamba 19, Una 14 (including NH-503A), Solan 12, Bilaspur 10, Sirmaur and Hamirpur seven each, and Kinnaur two.

The disruption has also affected essential services. A total of 73 water supply schemes are reported to be blocked—29 in Mandi, 16 in Shimla, 11 in Chamba, nine in Kangra, six in Solan, two in Hamirpur, and one each in Bilaspur and Sirmaur—impacting drinking water supply in several areas.

Power supply has also taken a hit, with 53 transformers out of service: 21 in Chamba, 16 in Kullu, 14 in Mandi, and two in Shimla.

Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has forecast light rainfall across parts of the state on September 24 and 25. Dry weather is expected to prevail until September 23 and again after September 26. The department added that conditions remain favorable for further withdrawal of the southwest monsoon from parts of Himachal Pradesh over the next 24 hours.
