One medical intern was killed and another reported missing after their car skidded off the road and plunged into the Ravi River near Parel, on the outskirts of Chamba town, early Sunday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Abhishek, a resident of Hamirpur. Ishika, from Rohru in Shimla district, remains missing and is feared to have drowned in the strong river currents.

Two other interns—Rishant Mastana from Shimla and Divyank from Solan—sustained injuries and are currently receiving treatment at Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Government Medical College (PJNGMC), Chamba.

Chamba Superintendent of Police Abhishek Yadav said rescue teams rushed to the scene immediately after being alerted about the accident.

“A search operation is underway to trace the missing intern,” he confirmed, adding that further details are awaited.
