Brazil’s Former President Bolsonaro Hospitalized After Feeling Ill, Son Says
Brazil’s former president Jair Bolsonaro has been admitted to a hospital in the capital, Brasília, after feeling unwell, his son reported on Tuesday.
Since being stabbed during his 2018 election campaign, Bolsonaro has suffered from recurring intestinal problems, undergoing at least six related surgeries, the most recent being a 12-hour procedure in April.
His son, Flávio Bolsonaro, posted on X that the former president was experiencing severe hiccups, vomiting, and low blood pressure.
On Sunday, Bolsonaro underwent various medical treatments in Brasília, including lab tests and surgical removal of skin lesions.
Last week, Bolsonaro was sentenced by a Supreme Court panel to 27 years and three months in prison on charges of plotting a coup after losing the 2022 election.
Bolsonaro has been under house arrest since August following allegations that he pressured courts, similar to tactics reportedly used by U.S. President Donald Trump.
