Cloudburst in Guttrahan Village, Bilaspur; No Casualties Reported
A cloudburst early Saturday in Bilaspur district of Himachal Pradesh led to several vehicles being buried under debris and caused extensive damage to agricultural fields. However, officials confirmed that no casualties have been reported.
The incident occurred in Guttrahan village of the Namhol area in the Naina Devi assembly constituency.
Local resident Kashmir Singh explained that the powerful flow of water swept debris across the entire farmland, leaving it covered in mud and stones.
Several vehicles were trapped under the debris.
Meanwhile, thick fog covered the state capital Shimla on Saturday morning, reducing visibility to just a few meters and causing difficulties for commuters during school hours. The local meteorological department has issued a yellow warning for heavy rainfall in parts of the state for Saturday and Sunday.
As of Friday evening, a total of 503 roads—including the Attari-Leh Highway (NH-3), Aut-Sainj Highway (NH-305), and Amritsar-Bhota Highway (NH-503A)—were closed to traffic due to ongoing weather-related disruptions.
According to the State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC), recent floods and landslides have disrupted nearly 953 electricity transformers and 336 drinking water supply schemes across the state.
Since the onset of the monsoon on June 20, Himachal Pradesh has witnessed 386 deaths related to rainfall and road accidents as of September 12. Of these, 218 were due to rain-related incidents, while 168 resulted from road crashes.
Authorities reported that the state has suffered an estimated loss of ₹4,465 crore so far.
Weather data shows that Himachal Pradesh received an average rainfall of 967.2 mm between June 1 and September 12, compared to the normal average of 678.4 mm—an excess of 43 percent.
