Body of Missing Teacher Recovered from Giri River in Sirmaur District
The body of a private school teacher who went missing after being swept away by the strong currents of the Giri River in Sirmaur district yesterday evening was recovered today.
The deceased has been identified as 36-year-old Rupalal, a resident of Thakkar Gawana village in Dadahu tehsil. According to reports, he was employed as a teacher at a private school in Chandni. After finishing his duty, he was returning to his village when the incident occurred. Around 5:30 pm yesterday, while attempting to cross the Giri River from Chandni toward Thakkar Gawana, he was suddenly carried away by the surging waters. Locals reported that he was last seen being swept along the current near the Shadyar area.
Upon receiving the information, the administration immediately launched a search and rescue operation under the supervision of Kamrau Naib Tehsildar Om Prakash Thakur, deploying divers near Sataun Bridge. Police and administrative teams stayed on site throughout the night, coordinating extensive search efforts.
This evening, the search team recovered Rupalal’s body near a private stone crusher at Shampur in the Manpur Devra Panchayat area of Paonta Sahib tehsil. Officials confirmed the identity of the deceased.
