The state’s weather has shown signs of easing. After a week of continuous rainfall, the monsoon appears to be losing its intensity. For the first time in several days, dry conditions were recorded in many parts of the state, including Shimla, Mandi, and Kullu.

The Meteorological Department has not issued any alerts so far, although light to moderate rainfall is expected in some areas over the next two days. A yellow alert for heavy rainfall has been issued for certain districts on September 8 and 9, but in most areas only scattered light to moderate showers are likely. Overall, a noticeable decrease in the intensity and spread of rainfall is expected in the coming days.

Despite this improvement in the weather, a large number of roads and electricity distribution transformers remain disrupted across the state. Currently, 1,091 roads are blocked, and over 2,800 transformers are out of service, leaving thousands of people without electricity. With clearer weather, restoration work is expected to gain much-needed momentum.
