Shimla District: Two Killed, 15 Injured in Firing on National Highway 5
Two women were killed and 15 others injured on Wednesday after unidentified assailants opened fire on a private bus traveling along National Highway 5 near Bithal in Shimla district.
The victims have been identified as Laxmi Virani, a resident of Jalgaon in Maharashtra, and another woman from Nepal. The injured were rushed to the Mahatma Gandhi Medical Services Complex at Khaneri, Rampur, where they are receiving treatment.
According to officials, panic ensued when the bus came under sudden attack. The incident occurred about 101 kilometers from the state capital, Shimla.
Police teams rushed to the spot immediately after receiving the alert and launched rescue operations. An investigation is underway to identify the perpetrators and ascertain the motive behind the firing.
