Rain of Currency Notes on Shimla’s Ridge as Youth Scatters ₹19,000

Shimla, August 22:
An unusual incident unfolded on Shimla’s historic Ridge ground on Friday when a young man from Delhi suddenly began scattering currency notes in the air, creating the effect of a “money shower.” Onlookers were left stunned, with many quickly pulling out their phones to capture videos of the scene. Police personnel stationed nearby rushed to the spot and immediately took the youth into custody, later escorting him to the control room on Mall Road. The man had come to Shimla with his friends.

According to reports, the moment his friends walked a short distance away, the youth threw around ₹19,000 in cash across the Ridge. Local youngsters helped gather the scattered money, which, upon counting by the police, turned out to be slightly more than ₹19,000.

During questioning, it emerged that the youth was mentally unwell. He told police that he had been saving the money for a long time with the intention of distributing it among the needy during his visit to Shimla. The police counseled him and initiated further action.

Tourists and locals present at the Ridge were left astonished by the incident, and videos of the dramatic “rain of money” quickly went viral on social media.
