Mandi Water Supply to Remain Disrupted for Two Days After Heavy Rain Damages Pipelines
Mandi, August 17: Heavy rainfall on Friday night and Saturday morning has severely damaged the pipelines supplying water to Mandi town at several locations. The damage, caused by landslides, is expected to disrupt water supply for the next two days.
According to officials, repair work has begun at points where broken pipelines have been identified, while inspection teams are still surveying other areas to locate additional damage. Meanwhile, operations at the Uhl Project and Paddal Pump House have also been hampered due to excessive silt, making water pumping difficult.
The department is working to restore local water sources as quickly as possible to normalize supply, but officials caution that the process will take time since several of these sources have also been affected. Although some areas of Mandi town received water on Saturday morning, supply disruptions are likely to continue in the coming days.
Authorities have urged residents to use water judiciously. Meanwhile, arrangements have been made to ensure uninterrupted supply to the Zonal Hospital in Mandi so that patients do not face difficulties.
