Responding to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call, organisations and citizens across the country are marking Independence Day with Tiranga Yatras in their own unique ways. In this spirit, on Thursday, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) organised a Tiranga Yatra in Mandi—popularly known as Chhoti Kashi—featuring a 200-foot-long national flag.

ABVP members and college students carried the massive flag from the Vallabh College campus through the streets of the city, chanting “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” and “Jai Hind” to honour the nation and its armed forces.

Karan Thakur, secretary of ABVP’s Mandi unit, said the Tiranga is a symbol of the country’s pride, honour, and glory. He noted the tremendous enthusiasm and patriotic spirit among the youth, many of whom actively participated in the procession.

Alongside celebrating the courage of India and its armed forces, the event aimed to inspire a sense of patriotism among young people and the general public. Thakur emphasised that serving the nation is not limited to joining the armed forces—every individual can contribute to the country in their own way.
