Shimla, August 14

Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania announced that the Monsoon Session of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly will be held from August 18 to September 2. This will be the ninth session of the 14th Assembly, comprising a total of 12 sittings, making it the fourth-longest monsoon session in the state’s history. For reference, the first Assembly in 1962 held a 13-sitting monsoon session, the second Assembly in 1968 held 15 sittings, and the 11th Assembly in 2009 held a record 17 sittings.

Pathania noted that the 14th Assembly has so far held 73 sittings across eight sessions, and with this session, the total will reach 85. To date, the Assembly has received 830 notices from members—679 starred questions and 151 unstarred questions—along with 28 notices under various rules.

He added that key issues raised by members include the damage caused by natural disasters and floods in Himachal Pradesh. The Speaker also informed that an all-party meeting will be convened on August 18 at 12 noon, ahead of the session’s commencement.
