Shimla, August 9 – In view of the natural calamities that have severely affected Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla organized a special yajna at Raj Bhavan, Shimla, praying for relief from the disasters and the peace and well-being of both states. Offerings were also made for the eternal peace of those who lost their lives in the recent tragedies.

On the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, the Governor extended greetings and best wishes to the people of the state and the nation.

Governor Shukla noted that the recent disasters have caused extensive damage in both Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. He emphasized that development must be guided by scientific principles, urging governments to consider the long-term consequences of unplanned construction. “If people continue to settle along drains and seasonal rivulets, damage will inevitably occur,” he remarked.

During the Raksha Bandhan celebrations at Raj Bhavan, women from various organizations tied rakhi to the Governor, who conveyed his heartfelt wishes for the festival.
