Mandi: Cloudburst Suspected in Panarsa Hills, Two Streams in Severe Flood
Mandi, August 8 – Panarsa village, located under the jurisdiction of the Aut police station in Mandi district, has been inundated after two local streams experienced severe flooding. Although no major damage has been reported so far, the continuous heavy rainfall in the region has left residents on edge.
According to initial reports, a cloudburst is suspected to have occurred somewhere high in the Panarsa hills. The resulting runoff has caused flooding in the Chublu and Rahdi streams. Floodwaters from the Rahdi stream entered the premises of Panarsa School before spilling onto the highway, prompting authorities to halt traffic. As a result, many people, including some schoolchildren, were left stranded on the road.
Meanwhile, the Chublu stream has also taken on a fierce form, adding to the fear among locals. Police have confirmed that no significant loss has been reported yet. Once the rains subside, administrative teams will conduct site inspections to assess the extent of any damage.
