Governor Offers Prayers at Historic Markandeya Temple in Bilaspur During Holy Month of Shravan

Shimla, August 4:
On the auspicious occasion of the holy month of Shravan, Himachal Pradesh Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla and Lady Governor Janaki Shukla visited the historic Markandeya Temple in Bilaspur district to offer prayers. The Governor prayed for the peace, prosperity, and well-being of the people of the state.

Speaking to the media informally after the visit, the Governor highlighted the religious significance of the site, noting that Rishi Markandeya is revered in Hindu tradition as a devoted follower of both Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu. He described the Markandeya Temple as one of the prominent spiritual landmarks in Himachal Pradesh.

During the interaction, the Governor also spoke about his recent visit to disaster-affected areas in Mandi district, expressing concern over the loss of life and property due to the recent natural calamities. He praised the resilience and courage shown by the affected communities, stating that despite adversity, the people have remained strong and hopeful.

He offered prayers that Rishi Markandeya continues to bless and protect the people of Himachal Pradesh.

Deputy Commissioner Rahul Kumar formally welcomed the Governor and Lady Governor at the temple. Also present were Governor’s Secretary C.P. Verma, Superintendent of Police Sandeep Dhawal, and other senior officials from the district administration.
