Mandi, August 2: A major mishap was narrowly avoided in Fagu village of Aut Gram Panchayat in Mandi district when a massive boulder broke loose from a hillside and crashed down, severely damaging two houses. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.
According to local residents, the incident occurred in the afternoon while most people were engaged in their daily routines. The sudden rockfall triggered panic across the village. Luckily, the families residing in the affected houses had managed to exit in time, escaping unharmed.
Upon receiving the alert, villagers immediately informed the local administration. A team promptly arrived at the site to assess the damage. The affected families have been relocated to safer locations, and they are being provided with necessary relief and support.
The district administration has assured that all possible assistance will be extended to the victims. Locals described the fallen boulder as extremely large and heavy, causing significant structural damage to the houses. Authorities have also warned that the risk of further rockfalls in the area still exists.
