MP Rajeev Bhardwaj Raises Baijnath-Bharmour Road Issue; Gadkari Clarifies Status
Dharamshala, July 28:
Responding to a question raised in the Lok Sabha by Kangra MP Dr. Rajeev Bhardwaj, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari clarified that the Baijnath–Bharmour–Utrala–Holi road has not yet been designated as a National Highway.
Dr. Bhardwaj urged the central government to declare this crucial route a national project and ensure budgetary provision for the construction of its first phase.
In his response, Minister Gadkari stated that the central government is primarily responsible for the development and maintenance of National Highways. He further explained that proposals to declare state highways as national highways are received periodically from state governments and Union Territories. These proposals are evaluated based on connectivity and strategic importance in alignment with the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan.
