In the wake of the devastating rainfall in the Seraj Assembly constituency of Mandi district, a wave of voluntary support is helping bring relief to those affected. The disaster may have caused widespread destruction, but it has also inspired a remarkable outpouring of humanity.

Across Seraj, generous individuals and organizations are stepping forward selflessly—some bringing bedding, others utensils. Many are distributing clothes, shoes, and slippers, while others have set up collection points stocked with essential supplies. From ration distribution to round-the-clock community kitchens, free medicines, and health check-up camps, help is arriving in every form.

Notably, many donors have even reached the region to provide direct financial assistance. With their support, affected families are beginning to piece their lives back together. Disaster survivors like Bharti, Mast Ram, and Chaman Lal shared that they were left with nothing but the clothes on their backs. The aid they’ve received has given them a fresh start. They expressed gratitude to all the individuals and organizations offering help, and urged that relief materials also be sent to remote areas where roads have yet to be restored.

Gratitude for Support — But Beware of Scammers

Former Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition Jai Ram Thakur expressed heartfelt thanks to the institutions and generous individuals who have come forward in this time of crisis. He emphasized that their help is making a real difference in enabling affected people to start over.

However, he also cautioned the public about fraudulent elements who may exploit the situation by collecting donations that never reach those in need. He urged donors to personally visit Seraj to ensure their assistance goes directly to the genuine victims. Thakur added that the BJP has a complete list of all affected families in the Seraj region to help ensure transparency.
