Mandi, July 11:
Following the devastating disaster that struck Mandi district on the night of June 30, authorities have so far recovered the bodies of 15 victims. However, the search continues for more than two dozen people still missing. The district administration, with the support of the NDRF, SDRF, and other rescue teams, has been carrying out relentless search operations.

One such operation is being conducted between Pandoh Dam and Patikri Dam by an SDRF unit led by Inspector Khila Devi. The team includes one head constable, ten constables, and two drone operators.

Inspector Khila Devi shared that the search is being carried out under extremely challenging conditions. Over the past four days, the team has been working tirelessly, both day and night, to locate the missing individuals. Drones are being used to aid the operation, but many areas have become nearly inaccessible due to the destruction. In several locations, team members are forced to hike 5–6 kilometers uphill through rugged mountain terrain, only to then descend a similar distance to reach the riverbanks.

The ongoing search, from Pandoh to Patikri Dam, is being pursued with a strong sense of urgency. “Our only aim is to find the missing as soon as possible because their families have been waiting for days with hope,” said Inspector Devi. She confirmed that the operation will continue without pause until further directives are issued by senior authorities.

As per official figures, 27 people remain missing since the night of the disaster. Search and rescue operations by various district teams, along with the NDRF and SDRF, have successfully rescued around 250 individuals so far.
