Mandi, July 11:
The Himachal Pradesh government is financially strong and committed to ensuring full compensation for losses suffered in disaster-affected areas, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said during an informal interaction with the media in Sundernagar, Mandi.

He stated that during his recent tour of Mandi district, he visited several severely affected regions, particularly in the Seraj area, which has suffered the most extensive damage. He emphasized that while the damage is immense, the restoration and relief work is ongoing and will continue in a phased and structured manner.

“The devastation in Seraj is unprecedented. Restoration and relief operations are in full swing. Prior to my visit, Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri and later PWD Minister Vikramaditya Singh also visited the affected regions. Initially, around 100 machines were deployed to clear roads; currently, about 50 machines are still working round the clock to ensure connectivity,” the Chief Minister said.

He reiterated that the state has neither a shortage of resources nor funds. However, given the scale of destruction, recovery will take time and cannot be completed within just a few months. He assured that the government will provide timely financial assistance for rehabilitation and will fully compensate the affected families for their losses.

CM Sukhu was on a two-day tour of Mandi district on July 9 and 10. While he was scheduled to return to Shimla after his assessment in Seraj, his plans changed, and he stayed overnight at the BBMB Rest House in Sundernagar. On the morning of July 11, before departing for Shimla, he also met with locals to hear public grievances. He was accompanied by Technical Education Minister Rajesh Dharmani during the visit.
