Shimla, June 26:
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Himachal Pradesh has made remarkable progress in the field of education. In the latest National Achievement Survey (NAS) 2025—also known as PARAKH-2025—the state has secured the 5th position nationally in overall rankings, a significant jump from 21st place recorded during the 2021 survey under the previous BJP-led government.

According to the survey, Himachal Pradesh ranked 2nd in Grade 3, 5th in Grade 6, and 4th in Grade 9, reflecting substantial qualitative improvements in the state’s education system.

This progress is the outcome of a series of focused reforms initiated by the current government. These include the merger of schools with low enrollment, rationalization of teaching staff, fast-tracking recruitment for vacant posts, and the phased establishment of Rajiv Gandhi Day-Boarding Schools across all assembly constituencies.

In addition, exposure visits to international academic institutions for both students and teachers have helped enhance global perspectives and improve the overall quality of education. These strategic interventions have led to a noticeable improvement in learning outcomes and academic standards.

Rajesh Sharma, State Project Director of the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan, described the state’s performance in NAS-2025 as a major achievement. He said the official announcement of the rankings will be made on July 2, 2025, at a national event in Delhi, where he will represent Himachal Pradesh. Sharma attributed the success to the state government’s consistent, reform-driven approach and emphasized that this milestone positions Himachal as a growing model for quality education across the country.
